Campus Resources

Utilizing campus resources, especially the Career Center, can prove helpful during the job search process.

Connections
Connections is an online system managed by the MSU Career Center that allows students to search and apply for jobs/internships, research employers, and schedule on-campus interviews. Connections typically contains hundreds of current listings at any given time.

Connections is also part of NACElink, which is a site managed by the National Association of Colleges and Employers. Employers who post positions here are members of NACE giving students access to thousands of positions worldwide.

On Campus Interviews
Many employers visit the MSU Career Center each fall and spring semester to interview MSU students for full-time, co-op, and internship positions.

Information Sessions
Representatives from various employers often conduct information sessions the evening before career fairs and campus interview days to provide potential job applicants with information about available opportunities. Students can view the information sessions calendar by logging into Connections.

Career Fairs
The MSU Career Center hosts multiple career fairs and events each fall and spring semester.

Departments & Faculty
Employers and alumni often send job listings to trusted colleagues in specific academic departments. Check to see if your department has its own job board, binder, bulletin board, etc. Sign up for departmental listservs...and be sure to check your email! Attend departmental networking events, career fairs, and guest speaker sessions. Let your professors, advisors, and classmates know you are looking for a job.

Meet with Someone in the Career Center
Setting up a meeting with your Career Center liaison is also a great way to help narrow and focus your job search strategy.
